Bodywork
Full body integration & interconnection is a major focus in Sophie’s offerings. Paying her way through university in the coffee & bartending industries, she was consistently confronted with ethical frustrations of harming rather than contributing to the nourishment of humanity. She experienced her first Thai massage during the recovery process from a series of brain & spinal injuries. It became a recurring encounter in a variety of festival, ceremonial & urban contexts. With an enduring intrigue for traditional medicine and a spark of encouragement from other bodyworkers & Elders, in 2018 Sophie attended Bahn Thai School (Toronto) to dive into a journey as a holistic practitioner. She is inspired by making use of her dance background while carrying intentions of holding space and facilitating safe containers for every individual in order to listen and work with the wisdom of each body. Sophie holds her Level 1 and 2 Certificates from ITM: International Training Massage School (Chiang Mai). She is a member of the International Association of Thai Massage and has active Municipal Licensing and Insurance with the City of Toronto under the Holistic Practitioner listings.
In 2018, Sophie also had her first encounter with breathwork. She attended several Holotropic breath work sessions before discovering Wim Hof. She became an avid Wim Hof-er for 2 years until coming across BreathWave - a practice founded by Robin Clements - that resonated most clearly with her. She completed her Level 1, 2 & 3 of BreathWave training and regularly works with clients one-on-one, in small groups and as a co-facilitator at retreats.
On the side, Sophie casually studies Craniosacral Therapy and the Bach Flower Remedies.
